Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson Both lawyers. When she was five, she moved to Oxfordshire where she attended The Dragon School. Emma was only six when she decided she wanted to become an actress. She was trained for many years in Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a part time theatre school in Oxford in which she learned acting as well as singing. By the age of ten she was performing and taking part in many Stagecoach productions and school plays. In 1999 casting began in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Casting agents found Emma via her Oxford theatre instructor. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after auditions of 8. They were chosen to play the 3 leads Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's film debut came with the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). It was the year's top grossing film, breaking records on opening day and first weekend. It was highly acclaimed by critics, as were the performances of its three new stars.
